Having struggled with health for years, I want inspire people to seek a healthy lifestyle. To do that, I am telling my story to everyone who will listen. This is my journey to wholesome living. Throughout our lifetime, we make choices and from our decisions we receive both good and bad consequences. For years, I ate whatever my heart and stomach desired. I ate without purpose. As a consequence of my poor food choices, I was always sick. My blood levels read as follows: cholesterol 300+, Triglycerides 1200+, aches and pains throughout my body, heart and kidney problems, bloated, swelling of hands and feet, bowel issues, overweight, fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, depression, headaches, and I am sure I missed a few symptoms.
A life changing event occurred on October 31, 2016 when my husband asked me to watch Forks Over Knives on Netflix. As I actively listened to the movie, I knew my life would never be the same because I had found the root causes of my sicknesses. As I processed what I was hearing, I thought these people are crazy, there would be now way I could give up the food that had brought me such joy in life. Food had brought me happiness when I was sad, been beside me to celebrate great news, and it was a large part of every emotion I had ever evoked. However, I knew I had to give it a try, my husband and I were both feeling horrible, and the doctor had confirmed our unhealthiness. I just wanted us to feel better and have some quality of life. Therefore, on November 1, 2016, I gave up meat, dairy, eggs, and poultry. That day would bring about many strong emotions, heartache and excitement, it would be exciting to get healthy yet scary to loose my comfort foods who had been at my side as a best friend would be. People who know me personally understand this was not an easy feat, I absolutely enjoyed eating hamburger and all types of red meat. I too used to say, how in the world do you not eat meat and would question people asking, "Where do you get your protein"? However, the questions dissipated when my list of symptoms and weight started melting away from my belly. The day I could get dressed in front of the mirror and not have to close my eyes in fear of what was looking back at me, I was hooked and know I would never go back to the old way of life. What I realized, my life changed because I choose to eat to live and not live to eat. After 2 year of living this life, I want everyone to hear my story so that they too can make educated decisions about their individual health and get well. This is not a diet, it is a lifestyle. Life is based on choices, choose wisely.
My Goal is to inspire and engage people to make healthy choices through plant based whole food lifestyle and exercise.
